All in all we used over four hundred wine bottles to make this wall. As to how we got hold of them all….well, the things you have to do as a garden designer! To finish off the bottle walls, we decided to top them with thick, solid wood in order to create an extensive seating area. Staying with the recycled theme, we used reclaimed elm timber cut from old railway sleepers. To maintain the beautiful patterns in the grain of the wood we oiled the timber thickly with Danish oil. Once this had thoroughly soaked in, we laid the timber across the bottles and built up the stone walls to hold it in place. Continued (click next)
