This newly built garden was visually pleasing but presented a real problem with maintenance. The banks were too steep and innaccessible to weed and the garden as a whole was large. The solution was to plant low maintenance shrubs on the steepest areas then lay matting and mulch the area with shingle. large boulders prevented the shingle sliding straight off the banks, and small planting areas were left where the access was easy to ensure a good display of bulbs, annuals and perennials
